Short knowledge bytes from #PMI South Asia DA Conference, 2020!

Here are the 10 key takeaways which I gathered from the day long conference-

1. What is Disciplined Agile

Disciplined Agile provides guidance to choose the organization their own WOW ( Way of Working)

PMI now offers unique certification at all levels of experience. One of the certifications being offered at senior position is DASSM — Senior Scrum Master certification, which is unique in the industry today as it helps practitioners learn more than what is currently available in the market. Incidentally, it went live yesterday (i.e. Dec 4).

2. How British Telecom used concept to market process speedily

Introduce milestones by continuous feedback loop, customers are ready to work as co-author to work together

Using Alpha customers and beta customer feedback loop , it was easy to take business decision for industry level investment.

Allowed BT to reduce time to market from 3 years down to 9 months

3. Don’t think “legacy” is all out, bring them with you

As we make all the changes, we have lot of legacy things.

Its again a good case of hybrid approach….depending on business need….disciplined agile tool kit will help you a lot.

4. What is needed to overcome Covid-19 impact ?

  1. Good collaboration tool
  2. Sense of responsibility among everyone
  3. Sense of Agile mindset

5. Impact of agile to the academic world

The student teacher working relationship has evolved. It’s more agile based now, with smaller chunk of lessons allowing quicker feedback loop.

6. Benefits of Business Agility

  1. Market success
  2. Collaboration
  3. Time to Market
  4. Adoptive leadership
  5. Customer Satisfaction

7. Enables Efficiency, Reliability & Scale

  1. Strategy
  2. Structure
  3. Process
  4. People
  5. Technology

8. Covid-19 Impact on academics

Signal for pandemic (Swineflu, Ebola, etc) was coming for long time , and did we took that signal ?

Only Harvard (during 2006) spent time on debating options for handling education during Pandemic

9. Three big challenge during Covid-19 for academics

  1. Difficult to judge student reaction/feedback due to most keeping their video Off.
  2. Technical challenge as some students face internet bandwidth issues
  3. Want more of participant driven learning, and teachers are just facilitators

10. In corporate world, how often the “work” waits ?

When the work waits it creates additional work. Work delays as people are struggling with multiple works.

Eliminate handoffs, handbacks and workflows

The organizations are in hierarchical structure, but the work gets done at same level with different section

Additional Notes

DA FLEX will coming Feb 2021

  1. Full playbook
  2. Lack of good intake
  3. Teams doing Scrum but no cohesion
  4. Discovery overloading implementation
