And. It’s not only just your family.

Yes, it’s true. Even people in your office don’t understand it well enough. Sometimes your team might wonder what are you busy with. Confusion is even more with job title, is it product manager, project manager, scrum master, program or customer engagement manager. Most people fit the same as per their understanding and tag you accordingly.

Most often, they get a pleasant surprise when you come out of the blue and solve the problem.

You are responsible for everything apart from writing code.

You’re the project manager, the spokesperson of your team, and maintenance- you are the person with whom customers will share problems. You are not expected to write code of it; that’s not your job. It is your job to “ensure” that the product owner, designer, and developers are following a common vision and working towards the same goal to meet customer demand. You’ll also look at how the product reaches the customer and how it meets customer expectations.

Now, from a customer perspective: You are the single point of all solutions.

Meet the expectations from your stakeholders.

Just one single piece of advice: Just write down all the expectations from all your stakeholders.

When you list down all stages of problem reporting, solution development, test phases, delivery across engineering, program, first office, release and support along with the expectations from each stage, you will realise the job description easily.

You are basically the generalist with below 3x facets -

  1. Work agnostic knowledge
  2. Context-agnostic knowledge
  3. Context-specific knowledge
  4. Win In Your Career As A Jack Of All Trades.
